Tidal Bore Surfing Redefines Meaning of Party Wave

A tidal bore occurs when the leading edge of an incoming tide forms a wave that travels up a river or a narrow bay. One of the world's most famous occurrence of this phenomenon is The Pororoca. The Pororoca is located at the mouth of the Amazon River in Northeast Brazil. The standing wave is over four meters tall and usually occurs in February and March. In this video surfers, stand up paddle boarders, and kayakers alike turn The Pororoca into the world's largest party wave. Some of the shots from this video completely redefine what it means to fight for a spot in the lineup.
