Shane Dorian and Albee Layer Conquer Barbaric Wave,“Blood Eagle”

What type of wave is so heavy that Shane Dorian and Albee Layer would name it "Blood Eagle"? The pair set out on the Scottish coast, searching the cold, gray waters of the North Atlantic for a ridable wave. What they found was a heavy slab wave off of an unnamed cliff. Inspired by a story from Albee, they decided an appropriate name would be "Blood Eagle", after a ceremonial offering.

The wave lived up to the story, as it dangerously broke on a rocky shelf. A session went off, with Albee and Shane pushing themselves and each other, capturing something truly special.

In this POV video from Kai Lenny, he loses his board while getting towed out by a jet-ski. Nazarè's waves look huge with someone surfing them, but they look even bigger from Kai’s perspective down in the water. Luckily he’s rescued by a jet ski quickly,

‘Girls Can’t Surf’: How a Bunch of Badass Women Changed Surfing

These days it’s pretty darn obvious that ladies shred just as hard as the guys–but it hasn’t always been that way. In the 1980s, the pro surfing world tried to push women out completely. By cancelling their event and only dolling out half as much prize money as they did for men, things were not looking good for the gals. tells the story of a group of female surfers who took the surf world by storm in order to achieve equality in a heavily male dominated sport. The film profiles Jodie Cooper,

The massive swells at Nazaré are what surfers prepare for all summer, and just a couple weeks ago, the waves provided. But the spectacle of watching surfers like Nic Von Rupp ride these legendary barrels also brought massive crowds to the beach. An estimated 20,000 people gathered to watch the show. As a result, Portuguese officials banned surfers from the beach in order to prevent the gathering of large crowds and the spread of COVID-19. In the latest video in his web series, Von Rupp
