SANDSPIT at the Harbor, SB

This one is near and dear to my heart. Santa Barbara’s most coveted novelty wave: Sandspit. In 1925 the Army Corp of Engineers warned there would be problems disrupting the flow of sand on the Santa Barbara coast. Did they have any idea the result would be a freak of a wave now highly contested by surfers all over the world?

Well, likely not, as surfing hadn’t really made its way to SoCal quite yet, but it is an interesting thought. Have you gotten your tube fix recently?
