Kelly Slater To Compete in 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro, Return to Tour

Aaaand just when you thought 11-time world champion Kelly Slater was done competing, he signed on to compete at the 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro. Slater has competed in the event several times, even winning the event way back in 1997. It will run March 18-24 at Manly Beach.

Last year, Slater sat out most of the season, nursing a foot injury and focusing on other parts of his surfing. Hew missed eight of the 11 Championship Tour events, but the WSL awarded him a wild card for 2019. Slater plans to compete full-time on the Tour again, saying: "I miss it and I'm looking forward to getting back to some old familiar territory. I'm also getting a nice warm-up prior to jumping back on Tour full-time after close to a year and a half hiatus from competition."
