Kelly Slater Discusses When He Was Knocked Out Surfing

Kelly the King sat down with what I assume is TMZ's Graham Bensinger to discuss a wide variety of topics. One of these was the inherent dangers of surfing, with Kelly discussing what he considers the most dangerous surf spots in the world. These includes such famous breaks as Mavericks and Pipeline.

This conversation led to a candid discussion about a recent incident during a competition in France. During this comp Kelly wiped out, hitting his head on his board knocking himself out cold. During the ensuing chaos Kelly was held down for two waves. Slater considers participation in this type of hold down the moment one becomes a true surfer, and it is interesting to hear him discuss it so candidly.
