John John Florence and Friends at the Kelly Slater Surf Ranch

The beaches of Puerto Escondido, Mexico, like many others, have been rendered off-limits by the global pandemic. However, when a big swell hit the region, local surfers couldn't resist the urge to catch a few waves. Taking advantage of the wee morning hours before police came on duty, the surfers managed to catch a few waves before the boys in blue showed up. ‘Undone’: Breaking Boundaries in Women’s Big Wave Surfing

In 2018, Laura Enever fell off the WSL tour, leaving her at a fork in the road. She could either claw her way through qualifying heats to reclaim her spot, or she could finally chase big wave slabs like she's always wanted to. Enever picked option two. Last winter, Enever tested her limits on waves like Shipstern Bluff, notorious for pummeling surfers at Red Bull Cape Fear. follows her journey into the brutal world of big wave surfing, which seldom sees many women. Undeterred, Enever
