Jamie O’Brien And Friends Get It Good With Some Perfect Mexican Beachbreaks

Pro surfer Jamie O'Brien has created a life we all dream about, and it's his job. The American grew up near one of the most iconic waves in the world, with a home in front of Pipeline, on the surf mecca that is Oahu's North Shore. He grew up surfing contests from age six to his early 20s culminating with a win at the prestigious Pipeline Masters. As O'Brien started to outgrow the contest circuit, he began producing surf films of his own and eventually staring in the award-winning "Who is JOB?".

Now in his seventh season filming "Who Is JOB" with Red Bull, O'Brien still manages to find time to retreat to some of his favorite breaks around the world with his best buddies as evidenced by this all-time five-day session in Mexico.

It seems a terrible irony that Kelly Slater's Wave Ranch, perhaps the ideal place to learn how to surf, is off-limits to all but the sport's A-list. There are several other wavepools either open today (in a manner of speaking) or in some stage of development around the world, but unless your name is Drew Brees you're probably not catching your first barrel with Mr. Slater. Here in Wyoming, we like to think of ourselves as rugged folks from the still-somewhat-Wild West. The nearest real city is Salt Lake City, almost 300 miles south, and wildlife outnumbers humanity by a long shot. It's true that by contiguous-American standards, Wyoming is about as remote as one can get, but compared to Western Australia Wyoming is practically New York City.
