Getting Shacked, New England-Style

New England can hardly be considered a surf destination. Despite a relative plethora of spots that can deliver on just the right kind of winter swell, come summer, the restless surf population often refers to the ocean as "Lago Atlantico," and local surf photographer Ralph Fatello gets excited about recording the "streak" of weeks in which, at any point during the week, there were waves at least waist high.

Of course, the local (yet humble) superpro image and story generators over at Get In The Van manage to both find the biggest waves any random wind swell can generate and convince some serious rippers to follow them to the ends of the Maine coast to find them and rip them to shit. Even though this one's called" "-SCRAPS-," these guys are still crushing as good of surf as I've ever gotten in the land of lobsters and dropper "r's."
