Boogie Boarding and Surfing Collide in Jamie O’Brien’s New Sport

When Jamie O’Brien gets a new quiver of boards, he doesn’t take his sweet time testing them one by one. Nope, he brings the whole set to the Banzai Pipeline. This time O’Brien was extra efficient by demoing two boards at once. It turns out that boogie boards and surf boards make a great pair if you can balance them right when paddling.

Get just the right velocity and you can launch from your surf board and fly directly onto the boogie board. Why didn’t O’Brien think of this sooner? It’s so ridiculous that it’s actually impressive. The new sport may not be debuting on the WSL anytime soon, but sure looks like a fun time. If you’re still hanging around the beach like O’Brien, just make sure not to congregate as we try to flatten the COVID-19 curve. Even boogie board surfing is acceptable as long as you stay six feet apart.
