Robin Van Gyn knows a thing or two about riding pow. It is not uncommon to become complacent in the backcountry if you are fully equipped with gear. A working beacon can replace sound common sense if you left your confidence in your gear replace your knowledge of the snowpack.

Knowing the weather and snowpack and trusting that knowledge can prevent situations (although accident do happen) where your gear is necessary.
