VIDEO: Hiroto Ogiwara Stomps World’s First Backside 2160

After watching a few other world’s firsts go down at The Nines 2022 (like the first women’s triple 1260s), the level of riding was again stepped up. 16-year-old Japanese snowboarder Hiroto Ogiwara stomped the first Backside 2160 – that’s six full rotations. “After my first hit, I thought the jump was perfect and I could go for the 1800,” said the young snowboarder from Ushiku, Japan, “When I landed the 18, I realized I still had some time left over, so I thought, ‘Maybe I can go for the 2160.” Five attempts later, he made history by stomping it.
