Pyramiden is a former Russian settlement and coal mining community on the archipelago of Svalbard, Norway. The eerie ghost town has been deserted for over 20 years and is literally frozen in time, with Soviet architecture and culture permeating the town. From mid-May until about October Pyramiden can only be reached by boat, and in the winter months by snowmobile, with visitors having to worry about encountering a stray polar bear.
Snowboarders Eero Ettala, Torgeir Bergrem, and Sam Taxwood made the long trek up to this incredibly unique northern corner of the world to film a street segment. Take a look behind-the-scenes on what went into this trip of a lifetime for these young urban riders.
