Ouch. It’s one thing to be skiing and riding as aggressively as the athletes on the Freeride World Tour, and it’s an entirely different thing to be crashing as hard as they (sometimes) do. Competing at the highest level leaves very little margin for error, and that’s pretty clear if you watch some of the bails from the 2021 Tour. There’s everything from 60-0 in a matter of inches (shoutout Aymar Navarro and that snowbank) to folks going SPLAT off gigantic airs (shoutout everyone else). Hope there was some good R&R time involved after these comp runs, and we can’t wait for more next season.
We can't think of a more fitting location than Alaska’s Tordrillo Mountains for the third and final stop of the Natural Selection Tour. Its rugged, raw landscape has always inspired snowboarders to find their own lines and push the boundaries of the sport. Recently seven of the world’s best big mountain freestylers did just that as they battled it out for snowboarding’s most coveted grand prize. Relive the action with the event’s replay and watch who walks away
Then drop them on the slopes in Aspen? Nothing short of mellow shredding, insane fun, teaching moments and an overload of talent across the board. This little BTS of the day from Burton is guaranteed to make you smile with a stacked squad of Mark McMorris, A$AP, Selema, Luke Winkelmann, Jake Canter, Zeb Powell… (Does it get any cooler? Can we hang with this bunch?) Also, Zeb doesn’t look too bad in a TGR mask if we do say so ourselves! Let the good times roll and watch it
To award-winning TGR photographer Nic Alegre, countless different ingredients need to come together to create a shot that truly has the power to inspire. For him, the goal is to create the best art possible, and that requires athletes to perform, conditions to line up, and gear he can rely on, like f-stop’s camera bags. When composing a shot, his first priority is capturing light - and capturing it in a way that makes the athlete secondary to what’s going on in the environment. Ultimately,
