Video: Step into Jacob Wester’s World of Big Mountain Skiing

“It’s a bit exposed,” says Jacob Wester casually as he stares down a knife like edge on the Forbes Arete of the Aiguille de Chardonnet in Chamonix. A bit? While that’s a complete understatement for the majority of us, skier Jacob Wester has become fairly accustomed to skiing extreme faces and steep couloirs.

Wester wasn’t always a big mountain skier, in fact, ten years ago he’d never imagined himself climbing with crampons and billy-goating through chutes. But since his transition from the terrain park to the backcountry, Wester has thrived. His short film Ode to the Steeps gives the viewer a chance to  experience many of his thrilling descents from 2018 and gain a deeper insight into his world.
