In January 2019, Daniel Hanka was coming off nearly a year of knee-hab following his second ACL surgery. Hanka had a healthy body and idea for a new video series, but no one to film him. After putting out a call for cinematographers on Instagram, he got a message from Erwan Lier, a French engineer with a love for skiing.
Lier managed to get time off work to travel to the Czech Republic and film with Hanka, despite the fact that the two had never met before. They became fast friends over the course of the month-long road trip that followed, prompting Hanka to say that "it takes a month to make a friend for life."
