VIDEO: Rob Gronkowski Joins the Pit Viper Team

This should be music to the ears of all the New Englanders out there. NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski is joining the Pit Viper Experts Only Pro Team. Even TGR co-founder Todd Jones is stoked about it, saying, “As New Englanders, we watched Gronk help us win multiple Super Bowls. It's good to see him out west getting loose with the Pit Viper crew. Hopefully, next time he will come to Jackson and let us show him around the home lab.”

From Pit Viper:

Over a weekend in March, the Gronkowski family met with Pit Viper to solidify their partnership by skiing in jeans, partying in rooftop hot tubs, snowmobiling, and doing what Gronk does best–having a good time.

The Gronkowski family began wearing Pit Viper sunglasses in 2019. Since then, without contract, Gronk has sported the glasses during NFL interviews, while hosting WWE Wrestlemania, and most recently, while celebrating his team’s Super Bowl LV win in Tampa Bay, Florida. With their shared passion for having a good time, the relationship between brand and athlete has grown, and it was only a matter of time until they met in person to make things official.

In March, Pit Viper hosted the five Gronkowski brothers, Papa Gronk, and their spouses in Deer Valley to celebrate the partnership. The weekend kicked off in the infamous Pit Viper limo (similar to this one here which jumped through an RV), and the festivities included stunts like setting speed records while skiing in jeans, topless photoshoots in sunglasses and bowties, and ripping snowmobiles over 75 miles per hour. Watch the weekend’s action here.

“Partying with the Pit Viper crew was the most fun we’ve had in a while, I’m stoked to have gotten the full ‘Party Mountain’ experience,” says Rob Gronkowski. “Skiing with them was nuts! They weren’t kidding when they said the only thing they’re serious about is having a good time.”

“The Gronkowski’s are a wild bunch with the fun-loving energy that Pit Viper is all about. Pretty decent skiers too. We’re stoked to have one of the world’s most legendary partiers join the family, and all we can say for now is that we think you’re going to love what we’re teeing up in the future,” teased Pit Viper team manager JP Gendron.

What is next for this legendary partnership between Gronk and Pit Viper? While in Salt Lake, Gronk surprised everyone with his mountain biking abilities and sunglass design skills. This won’t be the last time Gronk and Pit Viper team up to do something out of the ordinary.

Ouch. It’s one thing to be skiing and riding as aggressively as the athletes on the Freeride World Tour, and it’s an entirely different thing to be crashing as hard as they (sometimes) do. Competing at the highest level leaves very little margin for error, and that’s pretty clear if you watch some of the bails from the 2021 Tour. There’s everything from 60-0 in a matter of inches (shoutout Aymar Navarro and that snowbank) to folks going SPLAT off gigantic airs (shoutout everyone else). Hope

Leave it to the French to be dramatic about this kind of stuff… No really, Hugo Manhes’s project “Un Skier en Feu” (A Skier on Fire) is a stark and important visualization of climate change and its impact on how we play in the mountains. Sure, statistics like the fact that the snowpack on France’s Porte Pass has decreased by 40 percent in three decades, the average winter temperature increasing by a full degree, and many more might get the attention of some, but at this point maybe we do need

Half the reason we watch the Freeride World Tour is for the cliff drops. These athletes have an uncanny ability to link up lines that only mountain goats would climb, and we’re always wondering how they do it. Take a peek at this year’s best drops, which are spicier than your favorite 5-star curry.
