But Tom Wallisch is here to help you take some steps to brush up on your education and make sure you're being safe in the backcountry. While there's nothing that will replace an avalanche course, Wallisch reminds us that simple, mindful steps like preparing for your trip, planning well, riding terrain you've evaluated and planned for, and debriefing can all help keep you safer in the backcountry.
