Mt. Rainier is possibly the most visually imposing mountain in the Lower 48, easily visible from much of Western Washington. For better or worse, it's pretty imposing when you're up close and personal, as well. Luckily, Cody and his team, consisting of ski-mountaineer/cinematographer-extraordinaire Bjarne Salen and big-wave legend Ian Walsh, are used to imposing objectives.
A major goal of the trip was preparing Walsh for his planned ascent of Denali, which clearly worked out quite well, considering that he rode off the summit about a month later. For more on that expedition, see our story here.
