The Fifty EP. 2 – Cody Townsend Shreds Utah’s Mount Superior

Anyone who’s ever skied at Alta or Snowbird has stared up at the massive face right across the valley – Mount Superior – and probably thought “man, I’d love to put some tracks on that.” Cody Townsend chose that exact line for Number 2 of his project The Fifty, where he’s ticking off every line in the book 50 Classic Ski Descents Of North America.

As a pro skier, Townsend knows how to evaluate conditions in the mountains to make sure a line is safe to ski. Arriving in Utah after a long drive from his home near Lake Tahoe, Townsend links up with his team only to find sketchy avalanche conditions thanks to Utah’s recent heavy snowfall. The waiting game pays off, and when they drop in, it’s one dreamy pow turn after another. We’re pretty jealous and stoked on what’s to come from Townsend.

Guesses on what's going to be in Episode 3?

WNDR Alpine Drops New Algae-Based Vital 100 Backcountry Ski

Last winter, a new ski brand joined the fray with a special trick up their sleeve. WNDR Alpine was making high-performing, really fun backcountry skis using a totally new technology: algae-based composite cores. We got a chance to sit down with founder Matt Sterbenz (who you might remember being behind 4FRNT) last fall to learn about the technology in their original ski the Intention 110, and you can read more about that here. WNDR Alpine just released their second ski, the Vital 100, and

Quebec is a special place, home to harsh winters, a unique splinter of French culture, and some of the world's best freestyle skiers. In particular, the province's urban skiing scene is a breeding ground for game-changing talent, spawning the likes of Phil Casabon, Jacob Belanger, J.P. Auclair, and oh-so-many more.
