It’s no surprise that Cody Townsend is pretty particular about the ski gear he straps to his feet. After all, he’s been skiing longer than most of us, and he certainly puts his equipment through the paces in all manner of scenarios both inbounds and out. One thing he’s noticed, and something I fully agree needs to be explored further, is the difference between ski bindings. There’s a dizzying amount of awesome choices on the market today, but different bindings are designed for very different things – namely tech bindings are for ski touring and shouldn’t be used in a ski resort because they simply don’t safely release the way an alpine-style binding does. Do you care about your knees and lower legs? I sure do, and you should too. Listen to what Cody has to say about bindings and why he chooses his gear in the latest bonus episode of the Fifty.
Sometimes in mountain towns we talk about "Peter Pan Syndrome" as a bad thing. But pro skiers Mark Abma and Chris Turpin have turned it into some serious #goals. I've never watched any footage of Sam Kuch skiing and thought "yeah that was cool, I guess?" Plain and simple, the dude throws down. Just a few short years ago, Kuch was working construction and living the ski bum life up in BC. After being discovered as a master of the planks, Kuch skyrocketed his way to being one of the best freeskiers in the game. Whether he's dropping pillows or hucking threes off of cliffs, there's no shortage of style from Kuch. This short film from Arc'teryx takes
