Longtime TGR athlete Sammy Carlson has without a doubt elevated himself to one of the most respected and top freeskiers in the world. His skiing breathes a rare combination pure athleticism and flawless style in the gnarliest terrain. The World of X Games "Being" series takes a look at Sammy's career as he's transitioned from a freeski-crazed grom to winning X-Games gold medals, and now acclaimed as one of the top big-mountain skiers in the world.
Coming back after a big injury in 2012, Sammy realized competition skiing wasn't the way he wanted to push the sport, but it was the video parts and big mountain terrain where he would make his mark. This transition led to filming with TGR everywhere from Alaskan spines to BC pillow lines for the award-winning Sammy C Project. Fellow Oregon-bread skier and freeski legend Eric Pollard calls Carlson one of the most well-rounded and defining characters of this generation of skiing.
