PSA: The Importance of Avalanche Safety

For many the ski season has already come to a close. A few skiers and snowboarders hold on to the idea of winter, hiking high in the mountains to relish in a few more turns. As we turn to summer, however, the words of Eddard Stark come to mind... winter is coming. When it eventually pops its snowy head next November it will be important to to do one thing and that is take an avalanche safety class. This video from AIARE reminds us how important avalanche education is.  

Did you know the statistic that says if your a young twenty something male and you take an avalanche course, your chances of getting caught in an avalanche goes up 28%.  That’s because the young American male is a cocky f$&k.

Oh great, another boring easterner that unfortunately just moved out west, telling us what we should be doing.  Dime a dozen.
