There’s an old saying, “You can’t be what you can’t see.”
Within the realm of action sports we’ve seen this played out far too often, with gender equity being starkly out of balance in film and photography.
In addition to their Force of Nature Campaign, REI conducted a study with a troubling response: 63% of women and girls said they could not think of an outdoor female role model.
We can do better. As an action sports media powerhouse, we’ve been proud to support lady shredders across disciplines—ranging from Casey Brown to Angel Collinson—but we’re ready to turn things up a notch.
Because if the mountains treat us all equally, it’s time we follow suit and address a prevailing absence, particularly within our #TGRGrom competition.

We’ve run this contest for the past eight years and have yet to crown a female winner. Every year, female entries are disproportionately lower in comparison to the males. We know you're out there, ladies, and we want to feature you and your edits!
This year, we’re doing things a little differently: we'll be awarding both a female and male grand prize winner.

We’re beyond excited to find the next Hadley Hammer and Robin Van Gyn, but we can't do it if we don't get to see how rad you all are. So lil’ ladies, take inspiration from your favorite Angel Collinson shredit and get out there and send it–while getting everything on film of course! When everything is edited and dialed, you can enter the 2018 #TGRGrom contest here.
For the Grand prize not only will your edit be featured in our 2018/2019 snow film tour, but there's a whole slew of swag and sponsorships as well. Not to mention there's a runner up, monthly, and weekly winner too. So get it at ladies.
