How To Film An Epic Ski Segment In Alaska… At Night

Sweetgrass Productions took Pep Fujas, Eric Hjorleifson, Chris Benchetler, and Daron Rahlves into the Alaskan backcountry and Alyeska Resort to film one of the most cinematically beautiful ski shorts. The undertaking was extremely complex and required perfect coordination with untested lighting techniques, 9,000 pounds of equipment, the production crew, and mother nature. The result, the night segment Afterglow, won a Powder Award for Best Short. Not quite your traditional ski movie, but not a Hollywood production, Afterglow pushed the limit of what we can expect from ski films in the future.
