Skiers and journalists from Backcountry Magazine team up with the Hokkaido Backcountry Club to explore the Shakotan Peninsula, a coastal wilderness area west of Sapporo, Japan.
Access is via snowcat, and the trip included staying in a backcountry cabin buried under two meters of snow. We made a timelapse of the dig, and shot some ski touring and powder pillows. Avalanche danger was considerable during the trip, so most of the shots are from low angle terrain. However, lots of gnarly lines are still left for the picking here.
