Back in 2019, Cody Townsend got humbled on Alaskan mega-classic called the Sphinx. It’s real Alaskan steep skiing – upwards of 50 degrees over 1500 feet. This year, Cody and Bjarne sent it up to Cordova’s Points North Heli to link up with Nick Russell for an attempt at redemption. This time, the crew took a ride in from a heli before climbing straight up the gut of the beast. Will lessons learned from years past, and a whole lot of additional experience climbing steep exposed routes like this give Cody and his friends the edge they need to make it happen?

It seems to be very dangerous. Good luck to all the participants and to Cody Townsend too. Very cool story. Thank you. | If you’re in need of a pet sitter, who will take care of your pets as though they were their very own, contact PSL Pet Sitters. | Please click here for more information.

Cody has encountered a variety of snow conditions along the route, from knee-deep powder on Mount Superior to ice slopes on the Grand Teton, and his go-to ski for this expedition has been the extremely adaptable Salomon QST 106. | curved drywall
