Video: What Cody Townsend Brings on a Ski Tour

Cody Townsend has been doing a lot of touring recently, both for fun and for his currently-in-progress project, The Fifty. Unsurprisingly, he's got his backcountry kit pretty dialed, and was kind enough to make a video detailing exactly what he packs for an average day of ski touring. Some of the things are standards that just about everyone brings, and some are under-the-radar lifesavers.

Hopefully you don't need a reminder to pack a beacon, shovel, and probe, but are you in the habit of bringing glacier cream, speed paste, or a pot scrubber? Probably not, but here's Cody Townsend to tell you why you should be.

Really liking your videos! I’m part of the 50 crowd, over fifty years old that is. Love’n the vibe you have in the bc, keep it up!

Awesome video; good mix of educational and funny (the part about not wanting a small shovel cracked me up). Had a question about those Smith Wildcats: do you find that its pretty much the same as wearing a pair of goggles in terms of keeping the wind out of your eyes? or are they like wearing a pair of sunglasses and the wind shoots behind the lens and makes you cry?

thanks, and cheers!

Sure, being a tourist in the Tetons usually doesn’t require much more than a rental car pulling an RV, but in order to get to the really cool spots, you’ll need a fully-capable vehicle. When Ford released the all-new 2021 Bronco, it was immediately clear that this is a serious SUV that could take you just about anywhere. And when it comes to finding “just about anywhere” in the Tetons, Jimmy Chin knows exactly where to look. RELATED: Check Out Garett Buehler's Part In Accomplice Ford has

SRAM Updates Eagle Drivetrain With New Colors and 52-Tooth Cassette

It seems that this year, SRAM and Rockshox are all about incremental upgrades to their bike components. Instead of completely reinventing the wheel, they decided to refine and update their already amazing Eagle 12-Speed drivetrain. The big news is the new 10-52 tooth cassette, giving the drivetrain an unprecedented 520 percent gear range, available across the GX, XO1, and XX1 ranges. In other words, you have no more excuses about not getting up that climb. The new cassette is designed to be

WNDR Alpine Drops New Algae-Based Vital 100 Backcountry Ski

Last winter, a new ski brand joined the fray with a special trick up their sleeve. WNDR Alpine was making high-performing, really fun backcountry skis using a totally new technology: algae-based composite cores. We got a chance to sit down with founder Matt Sterbenz (who you might remember being behind 4FRNT) last fall to learn about the technology in their original ski the Intention 110, and you can read more about that here. WNDR Alpine just released their second ski, the Vital 100, and
