Atomic has released a boot that might finally be the solution for aggressive freeride skiers who need a stiff, light boot for both touring and in-bounds. The Hawx Ultra XTD combines the capabilities of the Hawx series with the movement a more traditional touring boot. Highlights include a liner with a built in walk-mode, a frictionless pivot point that allows for 54° movement, as well as the ability to work with both pin and alpine bindings.
Trying them on was unreal. They felt incredibly light and stiff on the feet, a true 130 flex. I can't wait to test them out on the mountain.

I bought these boots this season and after 4 days the orange walk/ski mode lever almost fell off while out touring as one of the two little screws holding it to the boot totally fell out leaving one loose screw holding the ski mode together… Fortunately I was not on a steep as a fail on a steep would have been disastrous…
Got back to village a ski shop repaired for me. If you own these great boots, as I do, just check those 2 little screws holding the orange walk mode lever in place are nice and tight…...
