Video: DJ Brandt’s ‘Rise to Rampage’ Ep. 3

Watching coverage of Red Bull Rampage might convince you that the competitors are robots, entirely incapable of feeling normal emotions like fear and self-doubt. For better or worse, that isn't actually the case. While the competitors are undoubtedly the MTB freeride world's cream-of-the-crop, Rampage is enough to put fear in the heart of even the rowdiest sender. This video takes a look behind the scenes at DJ Brandt's mental and emotional state in the lead-up to Rampage 2018, and there are some ugly bits.

As Ethan Nell says, "It makes you forget that you know how to ride a bike." When a single false move almost guarantees serious injury, the mental game is equally as important as the nuts and bolts of bike riding. Will DJ be able to overcome his cerebral struggle and put down a clean line? You already know the answer if you watched last year's Rampage, but it's still worth a watch.

Check back on Friday for coverage of Red Bull Rampage 2019!

D J Brandt is doing a very good job. The video is sharing his story. It is not an Hydrocodone addiction treatment essay life that he chose. There are many dangers on his path, and he accepts that and passing the same direction because of his love for it.

Parents teaching their kids how to ride a bike is one of the classic tropes of American culture, and for good reason. Bikes are a perfect toy for kids—they foster independence, provide a fun avenue for exercise, and teach groms that it's worth getting back in the saddle even after a fall. And as is often said, you never forget how to do it, so the initial investment of time pays lifelong dividends. It certainly wouldn’t be a stretch to call Red Bull Rampage 2019 one of the best mountain bike contests ever. Riders put down some of the heaviest runs we’ve ever seen, tossing bigger more technical tricks than ever before, all while carving lines down one of the least bike-friendly venues in the world. Of course, it’s one thing to watch the thing on TV or from the base area, but it’s something else entirely to watch the rider’s perspective as they piece their lines together down the
