World Cup racing kicked off this weekend in Maribor, Slovenia. It’s been nine years since Maribor has hosted a World Cup DH race, and despite the lull, the track hasn’t gotten any easier.
The rocky and rooty course failed to slow down Loïc Bruni and Tahnée Seagrave who snagged the year's first wins. To give us a little taste of the fun Gee Atherton threw on a GoPro and zipped through the track for a course preview. What's more impressive is not his riding, but the fact he can talk us through each line while going mach-speed.
"From last year in Croatia when I got injured to this one, it is redemption big time. I am super happy. I normally don't do back-to-back. Obviously the new bike is working as Finn was flying all weekend too. 29-inch front wheels are bringing me some good luck." - Loïc Bruni, Bartek Wolinski Photo.
Rachel Atherton was nipping at Seagrave's heels but wasn't able to best her time. Bartek Wolinski Photo.
