Paul Basagoitia thought he’d never ride a bike again following his devastating crash in the finals of the 2015 Red Bull Rampage. The accident left him with a spinal cord injury which rendered him unable to use the lower half of his body. Just as he was losing hope that he’d ever pedal two wheels again, the mountain bike industry introduced the pedal-assist electric bicycle. With the help of this new technology, Paul could suddenly pedal uphill, ride some of his favorite trails again, and become reacquainted with that addictive joy of whizzing around on a bike. Five years later, Paul hasn’t slowed down in the slightest. He’s riding more than ever and has relearned tricks like tables and whips. In his latest shredit with Canyon, Paul takes us on a tour around his new home of Scottsdale, Arizona to show just how far he can go with an e-bike. If you want to hear more about Paul’s inspiring journey, then be sure to check out his segment in TGR’s mountain bike film Accomplice—now streaming on TGRtv.
We’re just a few short weeks away from the second-ever Red Bull Formation taking place outside Virgin, Utah. Are the riders ready? Yes, but there’s always room for more. In the case of Samantha Soriano, she’s still pushing her progression with a little help from her best friend/worst enemy, her own brother Ross. Learn more about her process getting ready for the biggest event in women’s freeride mountain biking in Episode 1 of her new web series
Mountain biking doesn’t always have to take place in actual mountains, and DJ Brandt of all people knows that. It was edits like this one that put him on the map in the first place. Sure, we’re used to watching him throw down on his big bike in places like Virgin, but if his X Games Real MTB video proves anything, he’s still an absolute weapon when it comes to street riding. For his latest edit with Commencal, he put on some Mos Def, hopped aboard his dirt jumper and took it back to his roots
Raw bike parts edits like this one get us excited for the upcoming summer riding season. Kaos Seagrave takes that raw riding style to heart in his latest banger from Wales’ Revolution Bike Park – a mini-Whistler located in the Welsh hills that’s frequented by some of the UK’s best riders. Check out some corner-smashing, manny-holding, euro-tabling goodness from one of the fastest (and most colorful) riders in the game.
