Life of Pie: Creating Community with Pizza and Bikes

Any visit to Fruita, Colorado requires a pit stop at the iconic Hot Tomato. For pizzeria owners Jen Zeuner and Anne Keller, who moved to the area in search of singletrack and cheap rent, starting the Hot Tomato was a gamble. The two accidental entrepreneurs didn’t know the slightest about running a business, but motivated by the incredible power of pizza and cycling they went for it. 15 years later, the pizza joint has grown into an inclusive and accepting space for the local community—on top of making a mean slice of pizza.
