Johny Salido’s Journey to Rampage

For many freeride mountain bikers, riding at Red Bull Rampage is the pinnacle goal. As one of, if not the most prominent events in freeride, riders train their whole lives for it. This was exactly how it went for Johny Salido. Salido picked up his first mountain bike at the age of nine and shortly later swept the podium in his first freeride competition. From that point on, his whole life was about biking. When Salido was invited to Rampage, he was stoked to be able to ride with some of his heroes in a location like Virgin, Utah. But the size of the features and the implications of a crash loomed over Salido in the days leading up to the event. The day before the Rampage finals, Salido crashed coming out of a backflip, and while he walked out of the crash, he made the call a mere thirty minutes before his final run not to ride. As it turned out, it was the best decision he could have made given that he was bleeding internally from the crash. This film follows Salido on his journey from hopeful biker to the first Mexican to compete at Rampage, and how he’s ready to get back to Virgin.
