Half a Year After Breaking His Neck, Remy Morton is Back

Remy Morton’s crash out at Loosefest is the epitome of gnarly. Fully absorbing the sheer impact of overshooting the 75-foot gap, the Australian rider broke a few ribs, his neck, collarbone, dislocated his hip, and punctured both of his lungs. To simply keep him alive, Morton was placed in an induced coma.

Surviving the accident was only step one—next was rehabilitation—and Morton had a long uphill battle to go. Tasked with relearning walking and talking, you wouldn’t think Morton would be riding his bike anytime soon. But his determination and stoke proved indomitable, and six months after his crash Morton is back tearing up the trails of Queenstown, New Zealand.
