Every trail connects. That's the stance taken by REI in their new series of short films that focus on the intimate relationship between people and their favorite trails. Lael Wilcox is a bike-packing, ultra-long-distance racing machine with a competitive drive like no other: she aspires to beat the women's record of 14 days to bike the 800 miles of the Arizona Trail.

Wilcox estimates that only four women have ever completed the course. While it's not an official race with bibs, start guns or medals, completion of the trail is a prize in and of itself for bike-packers, thru-hikers, and athletes of all types. Keep an eye out for the next short films in REI's Every Trail Connects series for more on some of North America's greatest trails and the people that follow them.
