Riding a fixed gear bike is just about the purest form of cycling, you have no breaks, and one gear; when your wheels are in motion, so are your pedals; it's that simple. Professional fixie rider Patrick Seabase took his fixed gear bike-one of the first bikes ever, to attempt to cross the Pyrenees (the first mountain stage of the Tour De France) in just one day. The route through the mountains takes him Bagneres-De-Luchon to Bayonne, crossing a total of 5 mountain passes and topping out at 6,000 meters of elevation. In an unprecedented riding achievement, Patrick reached Bayonne in 15 hours and 52 minutes. This is some serious type II fun, that as Patrick's coach claims, "you have to be totally nuts, that's for sure."
