An In-Depth Look at the Slacklife

The action sports world is certainly a community of extremes. Unlike team sports, most of our pastimes, be they in the mountains, the ocean, or the air, involve incredible personal skills and self-reliance. Red Bull and Stept Production’s film Slacker, which explores the slacklining community, a seemingly fringe group of athletes, tells the story of a group of desert-dwelling adventurers. Each Thanksgiving, dozens of highliners gather at the edge of a huge cliff outside Moab, UT to string hundreds of feet of webbing across in the name of defying gravity in their own way. G.G.B.Y. (Gobble, Gobble, B**ches, Yeah, as the festival has come to be known) allows these athletes to push their limits to previously unfathomable heights and celebrate the slacklife for all it’s worth.
