WATCH: Imogen Caldwell’s 2019 Surf Edit Deserves Two Vimeo Staff Picks

Here in Wyoming, we like to think of ourselves as rugged folks from the still-somewhat-Wild West. The nearest real city is Salt Lake City, almost 300 miles south, and wildlife outnumbers humanity by a long shot. It's true that by contiguous-American standards, Wyoming is about as remote as one can get, but compared to Western Australia Wyoming is practically New York City.

Imogen Caldwell grew up in Red Bluff, Western Australia, a tiny community two hours from the nearest town and twelve hours from the nearest city. Homeschooled by her parents and the local surf breaks, it's no surprise that she seems more at home in the water than most of us are on solid ground.

Shot in Australia, France, Iceland, and Indonesia, this video is both a great introduction to one of the world's hottest up-and-coming surfers, and also a likely-unintentional tourism ad for Western Australia's stunning land and seascapes.
