Given how much Nate surfs, it's safe to say that he's been closed out more than the vast majority of surfers. He also has an innate ability to make complex topics palatable to less experienced surfers, and doesn't take himself too seriously, which is a major plus. In short, dude knows his stuff, and it's fun to listen to him talk shop.
