If you are really into airs on a surfboard, this film is for you. The first five minutes are made up almost entirely of three second clips in which the surfers throw some huge, admittedly impressive air, stomp it, and are barely shown riding it out. And it barely chills out from there. Call me old fashioned, but I just love watching a surfer take off on a wave and seeing how they navigate each section, how they express themselves and become connected with the wave and the ocean, and this movie does not have too much of that… In full honesty, REPEATER is not my favorite, but that’s just me. I personally am not all too enthralled by the mega-aggressive, thrashing surf style that these fellas showcase in REPEATER, but to each their own. There’s no denying that these guys are incredible at what they do.
