Joel and Tosh Tudor Cruise Down South

Since the late 80’s-early 90’s, it has been the norm in surfing to thrash and bang through waves, making your line look as powerful and difficult as possible. Recently, however, that has started to change thanks in large part to Joel’s alternative influence on the mainstream scene.

Joel and Tosh each take a more graceful approach, making their maneuvers look as effortless and smooth as possible. To the untrained eye, it might like they are talking it easy, when really they are just surfing better than 99% of the mainstream shortboarders you see in the water and on the screen. The alternative style this father son duo gravitates towards is much more focused on what the wave offers the surfer, not what the surfer can squeeze out of a wave. It’s like butter, baby. Take notes.
