By cancelling their event and only dolling out half as much prize money as they did for men, things were not looking good for the gals. Girls Can’t Surf tells the story of a group of female surfers who took the surf world by storm in order to achieve equality in a heavily male dominated sport. The film profiles Jodie Cooper, Frieda Zamba, Pauline Menczer, Lisa Anderson, Pam Burridge, Wendy Botha, Layne Beachely, and many others. These badass ladies faced a whole lot of obstacles, but ultimately changed the face of surfing forever—especially for the next generation of gals. The full film premieres in January, 2021.
