I’m glad there are people like Krister Kopala on this planet, so I don’t need to go and attempt lines like the “The Death Ramp” in my down time. The spring of 2022 was an action packed one for Krister who dedicated his entire season to riding some of the most unforgiving lines on Jiehkkevárri, the highest and arguably most remote mountain in Norway's Lyngen Alps. Three separate avalanches slid in the week preceding their attempt of the south face of Jiehkkevárri, and one more slid down a couloir that Krister was standing in only an hour or so before. It really was not the safest place to be. Krister and his ski buddies can be heard saying things like “what the f*ck are we doing here,” “scariest 50 meters of my life,” and “spicy!” all throughout the descents of their runs. Sounds like a good time. Check it out for some gnarliness.
