We Can All Relate to This Ski Movie

Well by now, we’ve all realized that Austria is having one of its best winters ever, with some of the deepest snow the country has ever seen. Innsbruck, a bustling city right smack in the middle of the action is ground zero when it comes to freeriding in the country. With over a dozen ski areas just a short trip away, it is truly one of the best places to live if you like to shred big lines for breakfast, literally.

Last season, a crew of locals made the most of that access and put together a film celebrating something we can all relate to: balancing your love of skiing with real-life responsibilities. Like, you know, a grown-up job as a physicist or civil engineer. Neil Williman, who you might recognize as the FWT announcer (he now lives in the UK and designs industrial sewer systems, ha), led the charge and gathered up his Innsbruck-based friends to ride the rowdiest lines in the valley. Centered around the Axamer Lizum ski area, which is home to some of the best sidecountry access in the world, the crew skis everything from pillows, couloirs, and big open faces in their new short film Working Volks Freeride.
