Alaskan skiing is generally considered some of the best on Earth, and for good reason. The lines are steep and clean, lending themselves perfectly to the type of aggressive big mountain skiing and riding that Teton Gravity Research is known for. TGR has been filming in Alaska for decades, but we always try to partner with local guides and pilots who know the zones and snowpack like the back of their hands. This year, we worked with Triple Point Expeditions, a heli-op located in Palmer, Alaska, within striking distance of the lofty summits of the Chugach, Talkeetna, and Alaska Ranges. Their experienced pilots and guides shepherded Angel Collinson, Elyse Saugstad, Nick McNutt, and Griffin Post to the top of lines that would give even the most seasoned big mountain skier some butterflies.
Angel and Elyse are no strangers to intimidating lines, though. As Elyse says, "My favorite place in the world to ski is Alaska. It terrifies me the most, it's the most beautiful, and I think it always has been and always will be."
