This week, we witnessed history being made yet again in the freeride ski and snowboard world, with another edition of Jackson Hole's Kings and Queens of Corbet's going down. After a record-breaking amount of snowfall hit the Tetons this January, 24 of the best men and women in snowsports sent themselves off the lip of the infamous ski run.
Kings and Queens of Corbet's is an athlete-judged competition, so it's really all about stoking out your friends instead of checking boxes on judge's checklist. For the competitors, progression is the name of the game, and progression is most certainly what we saw this year.
This year, the 2020 King and Queen of Corbet's are Parkin Costain and Veronica Paulsen. Costain wowed his peers with a perfectly stomped double backflip off the lip followed by a steezy collection of other tricks down low. Paulsen became the first female to stomp a backflip into the couloir, which fired up her fellow riders after trying it three years running.
