Remembering JP Auclair and Andreas Fransson in “Apogée”

In 2014, legendary freeskiers JP Auclair and Andreas Fransson passed away in an avalanche while skiing near the border of Chile and Argentina. As pioneers of the sport, news of their passing rocked the ski community. At the time of their deaths, Auclair and Fransson were working on a project with Bjarne Salén called Apogée. Translated from French, apogée means the highest point in developing something. Auclair and Fransson's vision was to create ski films around the world that inspired others with their beauty. A year after their passing, Salén released his own version of Apogée. Using footage he had captured of Auclair and Fransson in the years leading up to their death, Salén's film acts as a memorial for the two.
