Christmas came a month early with this one. Hunter Hess just dropped his first solo video project, SOULSTAR, after two years of collecting footage with photographer Owen Dahlberg. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. Hunter shows off his freestyle prowess in urban, pipe and backcountry terrain, and makes it look about as easy as humanly possible. SOULSTAR is all about the love for skiing; you can tell as you watch just how much fun everyone was having on this project. This edit has a lot of everything. Hess keeps it playful as he sends it off what looks to be the roof of a high school, but also turns it way up as he stomps a triple cork 1080 off an eighty-foot lip. There’s more than enough action to supplement the stoke tank as our winter season ramps up. Something is also to be said about Owen Dahlberg’s vision for producing this edit. Not only did he capture Hess’ beautiful skiing, but the quality and artistic expression in this creation is top notch, interesting and visually delightful. These guys both are bonafide style gods.
