Full Segment: Christina Lustenberger and Ian Mac’s First Descent

It’s not that often that skiers get to score a first descent these days, and it’s even less common that the mountain is one they grew up staring at as it towered over their hometown. But for Christina Lustenberger and Ian McIntosh, that dream came true on a day last winter when they scored the first descent of a massive line snaking off the summit of British Columbia’s Mount Nelson. After waiting on proper conditions, the two started the climb in the dark to time the descent and avoid warming conditions on the sunlit line. After summiting, the descent took them down a massive face of no-fall-zone skiing and required several rappels before they could rocket out the bottom apron.
