Video: Curious Bear Cub Inspects Tahoe Snowboarder

In mildly concerning but undeniably adorable news, video has surfaced of an inquisitive bear cub examining a snowboarder at Northstar California Ski Resort. The young black bear gives our cameraman a thorough sniff, and even nips at his glove before sauntering away to do more bear stuff. While the bear appears quite brown, it is in fact a black bear.

Per the National Park Service's bear encounter guidelines, one shouldn't run away from a curious bear. Instead, moving slowly and sideways away from the bear is the recommended strategy. However, the guidelines also note that placing oneself between a mother and her cub is to be avoided at all costs. In any case, it was a potentially risky situation which ended without any overt harm done.
